Veterinary
From Aristotle to the Eighteenth Century, very numerous b&w illustrations from line-drawings, engravings and paintings, appendix giving biographical notes of anatomists, bibliography & index, viii & 524 pp, green cloth (no d/w), corners of boards bumped, edges of covers a little rubbed, inside hinges cracked and repaired with sticky tape (which has since come off, leaving only the brown marks behind), but on the whole a good, usable copy, Macmillan 1944
21.7 x 14.6 cm, 880g, no ISBN
Republished in paperback in the 1970s, but now out of print altogether.
I find it astonishing that books of this quality were being published in England at a time when so much else was going on – the only sign that things were different is that the paper is clearly recycled – not that it has browned as much as modern papers do . . . .
