From Romulus to Augustus Caesar, Made English from the best Editions and Corrections of Learned Men, Illustrated with CXXVI Cuts, 2nd Edition, [xxiv] & 153 & [xv] pp, bookworm holes in top margin (one appears to have eaten right through the book!), corners of some pages turned over, stain on title-page (see picture), some slight foxing throughout, bound in contemporary full leather in very poor condition, leather gone entirely from rear board, binder’s label (mis-spelt “Lucius Floras”) detached but re-usable, needs re-binding, contents appear to be complete (they collate as per the copy in the British Library), D. Scholars now believe the author’s real name was Publius Annius Florus. He was born in Africa, and was a contemporary of the emperors Hadrian and Trajan.
The Epitome, compiled from Livy’s histories, is useful, as it gives us some clues as to what the early part of those histories (which have not survived) would have contained.
This copy would do very well for someone who wanted an old book to re-bind . . . .
