The Victorian pioneer photographer Francis Frith set up his business in 1860 to supply photographs for sale, and later to publish picture postcards. His archive continued after his death in 1898, and eventually contained nearly 400,000 photographs.
This book is still in print in a hardback edition at £19.00 – if you can eventually find it on the publisher’s thoroughly muddling website . . . .
