Theatre
Chichester Festival Theatre – The story of an iconic British theatre and its spectacular renaissance, very numerous colour photographic illustrations, 167 pp, paperback, glaze at bottom corners just starting to separate, otherwise in near fine condition, Chichester Festival Theatre, undated (but in fact 2014)
24 x 26.5 cm, 800g, no ISBN
A slightly puzzling book. The lack of an ISBN indicates that the book was not intended to be offered for public sale, and its format is unusual in that there is no conventional title page, although the page-numbering indicates there is nothing missing. The clue may perhaps be found in the list of ‘renew ambassadors’ published in the book, and this suggests that the book was issued as a thank-you to the donors who contributed to the cost of the rebuilding work. See the author’s note at the foot of the first page, reproduced below.
Please note this is primarily an account of the rebuilding of the theatre, and not a history of the theatre’s productions over the previous fifty years.
