The original edition was published in 1964 and the author died in 1973.  There was clearly still demand for the book, so the editors revised the text and brought it up to date.  It is, however, now out of print again.

The reason for the creasing to the top of the dustwrapper is simply that it is too tall for the book it covers, so the slight damage was to a large extent inevitable.
